Tattoos

About

Want to get something a little more up close and personal? Why not take the art directly to your skin?.

I create custom tattoos, occasionally working directly with photographers to give you a genuine piece of artwork on the skin.

.Are your books open?

Yes!

What kind of tattoos do you do?

Good question! Majority of what I do is exactly what you see in my artwork. Large, hyper-realistic wildlife. Both in colour and in black and grey. I also offer small/micro realistic works, fine line, watercolour and a range of subject matter. Please check out my Instagram at @Janet.Thatcher.Tattoos for more images. This will give you a good indication of what my style looks like on skin.

I do work limited days, so please be patient when booking. If you message me and it’s not something I am offering, I will recommend an artist for you. The studio I work at is bursting with talent so be assured it will be an amazing piece.

How do I get a quote?

Send through your description (please include style), any reference images you have plus placement and size in centimetres. You can do this via email at janet.thatcher..tattoos@gmail.com or find me on Instagram at @Janet.Thatcher.Tattoos and send me a direct message. Please be aware on occasion emails have gone astray to the junk mail folder so if you don’t hear back from me within a week please give the studio a call.

From here I will either send through follow up questions or a quote which means you are ready to book! Please see below for details.

Please note: Quotes are by design/session not by hour. I will always endeavour to finish the piece in a timely manner but I will put the client and the artwork first. These are my priorities.

Will you send me the design ahead of time?

In short, no. I am a realism artist and so the design is the photo/s. I work from the photo itself. If you ask me for a design this is what I will send back. If you want other elements like a galaxy, watercolour, florals, script etc. feel free to book in a consult to discuss. Its free! Consultation appointments are available in the mornings, if you book in the afternoon please be aware that clients getting tattooed take precedence and so you may be rescheduled. Just call the studio and they will find you a time (contact details are below). Alternatively be really specific in your description and I’ll ask questions if needed. This is usually enough, I only need to see you face to face if one of us is unsure about the design. I do allow time for minor alterations at the start of each appointment but major redesigns (like changing from a tiger to a rose) will see you rescheduled and likely forfeit your deposit.

Can I just commission you to create the design only?

Sure. However this service is $200 per hour. It’s free if you are getting the tattoo from me so it makes more sense to just book in.

How do I book in?

Once you have received a quote you can contact the studio where one of our amazing staff will find you a suitable time. I won’t personally book you in (it gets much to messy) so you will need to call the number or drop in personally. You will be required to place a non refundable deposit to secure a time so please have your card handy to do so. The deposit ranges from $100 - $300 and comes off the total at the end of the appointment.

What if I can’t make my appointment?

You will forfeit your deposit if you do not give us adequate notice. In the case of emergency you may be asked to provide a medical certificate or another form of proof. This is judged case by case and we always try and work with people in the case of a genuine emergency. I am only paid by the work I do and short notice means I often can’t fill the session. I’m human and have bills to pay so please be considerate and give as much notice as possible.

What do I need to do ahead of my appointment?

  • Get a good nights rest. This will help with your stress and pain tolerance.

  • Please make sure you have had a decent meal. Please don’t come in on an empty stomach, I will ask you to step out and have something. Snacks and drinks are welcome in the room so feel free to bring in something to keep you going.

  • Please make sure you have showered/wearing deodorant, the process is much more pleasant for the both of us if you are clean.

  • Wear comfortable clothing. Think of the area you are getting tattooed. I will need easy access (usually wider than the tattoo) and keep in mind ink is involved so don’t choose white and new/valuable clothing. I am not responsible for what happens to clothing during your appointment. Im focussed on giving you a fantastic tattoo.

  • Please don’t apply fake tan for at least two weeks before coming in. I will scrub it off.

  • Please arrive 10 minutes prior to your appointment. You may not be my only client and if you are running even 10 minutes late this may mean you will need to be rescheduled and no one wants that. Equally the city is quite crazy at the moment with road works and I recommend giving yourself ample time to park/walk/work out where you are!

  • If you are getting a paw print and want it actual size then please consider bringing the print with you. That way I can match it as close as possible.

Can I use numbing cream?

Yes you can but please give me notice.

Applying the cream and waiting for it to take effect will eat into your appointment time.

I cannot offer you advice/recommendations.

Please keep in mind they usually only last a short period of time (1-3hrs) which means that you might find it more painful when it wears off.

Most importantly, I can’t guarantee the effect the cream will have on your tattoo or the healing process. So you will need to take full responsibility.

Will my appointment start/finish exactly on time?

If I am running behind schedule the reception staff will contact you and let you know. I endeavour to keep everything running as smoothly as possible, please be patient. This is an art form and therefore needs a little flexibility. Try and think how you would like to be treated during your tattoo. You wouldn’t want your artist rushed.

Please do not expect me to give you an exact finish time. This will depend largely on yourself and your skin. If you have a time you have to leave by please tell me at the start of the appointment. This may mean you will need to book a follow up session.

What if my tattoo needs a touch up?

I offer a free one off touch up for a piece done by me once it has fully healed. Touch ups need to be booked within the first three months.

Other information:

  • Cancellations, no shows, major design changes, arrival 15 minutes past your appointment time will see your deposit forfeit.

  • Do not be rude to the counter staff. They do know their stuff and are there to help. If you behave badly I will send you away and your appointment/deposit may be forfeit.

  • Aftercare instructions are emailed to you at your appointment, feel free to ask me any questions.

Can I contact you to ask a question?

Absolutely! If you don’t find the information you are after above, please ask.
